Several things I would like to point out.

1. Often the black men do not pick trashy white women. Many times the worst/sluttiest white women go after them because thier white men would not want them. Then they pick the best black men they can find because they feel that since they are white they can do that.

So sometimes you cannot blame black men and wonder why they pick the worst of other races. The black men just see free and easy sex.

2. As to white men, many where I live, would date a black woman on thier level whatever level that may be. Sometimes they are looking for assistance (money) from black women.

Other times they may be into freaky kinky things and having a black woman adds extra spice. They may force her to do kinky sexual things.

In the end some black/white relationships can survive and just involve love.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33652795.post-1162146728409655582006-10-29T10:32:00.000-08:002006-10-29T10:32:00.000-08:00Me too, but I always used to wonder how Beyonce us...Me too, but I always used to wonder how Beyonce used to change up her hair so fast, if she going to an awards she walking down the red carpet with one hairstyle and then she performing on stage with another. I actually sat here and...Interesting conversation. I actually sat here and read every comment and found it to be educational. My husband is a mix-up black Trini and I am a mix-up black American from Louisiana. I never really dated much because of my religious oppression -- I mean, upbringing -- and we married very young. I never dated outside my race, so I have no first-hand experience on how other races treat black women.

What I do notice from this conversation is that we who are black seem to have the same hang-ups and troubles all over the world. Here, we have enough oppression from white society, add to that the oppression we have within our own race. There used to be a thing here called the brown paper bag test. If you're lighter than the bag, you can pass in society. Even today, lighter skin and straighter hair seems to get a person further.

My sister and I have different fathers and she is darker. She is beautiful, intelligent and ambitious. She dates a white man. I have no problem with that. Except that I fear that she seeks out a white man because she is uncomfortable with her own blackness. That, I have a problem with. I really want her to see her own value.

I agree with all who advocate a beautiful mixed world. At the end of the day I want someone to like me for ME.

To me it was quite refreshing to go out with my husband, when we first met.His goals and ideologies are very different from any of the guys that I dated before and that had so much to do with how he was brought up and his background. Now I am not saying all the guys that I met are like what I described, but I as well have my "hang ups" about the person I was looking for to complement me and I guess maybe I kept picking the "wrong guys" in that aspect. But I was not about to "settle" and compromise my ideals for a man, hence the reason that I ended up looking outside of my race to find what I was looking for.Trinidad Carnival Diaryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00740546075922616502noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33652795.post-1161960198407990912006-10-27T07:43:00.000-07:002006-10-27T07:43:00.000-07:00Hottie all good points....at the end of the day it...Hottie all good points....at the end of the day it does come down to color.

My brother girlfriend is black & big breasted. I mention on Saucy blog when we went to collect our costume from tribe she did not get the best of treatment. And it saddens me that in trinidad that u can be discriminated by your own ppl cause u do not have the right color! I view myself as black even though I am bi-racial..zebra according to my cousin..when someone ask what is your color I always respond to them as black.

Cause living in the US they don't see you as light skin, they see you black and ppl in trinidad need to realize that, so I really don't know why everyting has to come down to color in Trinidad...I try not to see color in ppl cause I have experience enough of the jokes and humilation growing up in my own country. My sisters & brothers may me different but I am glad they treat ppl with respect, they do get special treatment but they never use or take advantage of it.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33652795.post-1161959184818940252006-10-27T07:26:00.000-07:002006-10-27T07:26:00.000-07:00I think it's easier to define mix when your skin c...I think it's easier to define mix when your skin colour is not very strongly black or white (I'll continue with them, what we've been using as examples). We tend to get called either black or white based on skin colour, then after more observation, looking at hair & eyes, do ppl sometimes believe you are mixed. It's when you're tan or moca that ppl believe the mix definition more.
My skin colour is white - my Dad is Trini which = mixed of course. His mix from way back is Portuguese, St. Lucian & British. My Mom is French Canadian, traced from all the way back.
No one has ever correctly guessed my race... I get mainly Italian, Greek, Portuguese (which is closest), & just the other day, Egyptian.
But I don't mind at all, who would guess right?? Actually, it gives me an opportunity to educate ppl, tell them no, you're not going to have any luck speaking to me in Italian, bc I'm not, I'm ______I fill in the blank________. Then I hear, "I never would have guessed!"
But like I said earlier, it's easier here in Toronto to be mixed, have a mixed marriage, & have mixed kids.
I wish it was like that in T'dad & London... well, we always have hope, right?Karabanahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00881680916332169863noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33652795.post-1161958130286263562006-10-27T07:08:00.000-07:002006-10-27T07:08:00.000-07:00The thing is, at the end of the day, bad treatment...The thing is, at the end of the day, bad treatment and good treatment is 3/4 common sense and 1/4 luck. Maybe Halle Berry just keep picking shit?! There are women who repeat cycles of abuse of all races. I mean, Halle Berry get horn yes. But so did Angelina Jolie and Elizabeth Hurley. Nicole Kidman get pitch to the curb. Maybe the thing is that alot of people of colour - whether black, mixed, Indian or latino - have personal hang ups because of colonisation and our societies being stratified by race etc. When two people of the same background come together it can either be a source of support and understanding or, a hindrance and a problem. I know some black men say white women are less complicated - maybe it's because with them it's a case of only one person bringing their hang ups into the relationship? I don't know. The thing is, I have no problem with people dating/marrying outside their race. How can I! But for the right reasons. And I think one of our problems as a society is that when there's a problem the first thing we do is cry race, instead of looking to see what the other possible causes are. And THAT is one thing white people DON'T do.Hottie Hottiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03127198844316034575noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33652795.post-1161947357092811012006-10-27T04:09:00.000-07:002006-10-27T04:09:00.000-07:00Girl, I understand. Even if you have every characteristics of one race, as long as yuh ancentry is more than one, then yuh mixed. When I wear my hair pulled back, I's a Spanish, curly and out, a Douglas or Mulatto, Relaxed, a mix thing. Funny thing is, when my hair was relaxed, Foreigners thought I was Indian! Venezuelans think I'm Indian or Brazilian. People back home always used to be pulling my hair. I remember being in the line in McDonald's once and two women behind me talking about somebody hair. One saying it natural the other saying no it relaxed. Is only after I realise is me they talking about! They ended the discussion by saying I mix but with Negro blood - PLENTY Negro blood as one felt it was necessary to say. Is like I wasn't even there! On the other hand, I had an Indian coworker who asked me once why black people does put so much "bubbles" in they children head. When I tell she I doh know because I doh know nobody who does do that she watch me and laugh and I say, "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't realise you were an Indian." She lucky I didn't box she in she two big eye. There's a programme up here called "Who do you think you are" where they trace people's background. This guy - a black guy, didn't look mixed at all - did his. When they traced his DNA etc it went back to some remote German village. In fact, his black ancestry was so small as to be considered almost "negligable." The man was so dissappointed. The thing is, people's perception of you is dependent on their mentality and their experiences. I not letting nobody with they issues and insecurities dictate who I am.Hottie Hottiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03127198844316034575noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33652795.post-1161946033261084162006-10-27T03:47:00.000-07:002006-10-27T03:47:00.000-07:00But Hottie how do you define "mix" to people who d...But Hottie how do you define "mix" to people who do not understand the concept ? My grand father was Spanish, my Grand mother is black. My mother has the look of a "mixed" person with the long curly hair(well it short now),lighter complexion, high cheekbones and eyes like a "chinee" since I figure my grandfather had some Amerindian in him (he is Venezuelan). When my mother was in Miami everyone spoke Spanish to her!Of course it also had to do with the fact that her last name is of Spanish pronunciation. :D

When you look at me you see a black person though.I am brown in complexion (some people say "red"),I have jet black hair that is naturally thick and long, I have my mother's eyes and unless I wear my hair long (people say I look like an Amerindain or I have Chinese in me when I do)you don't see that I am "mixed". So I am not going to launch into an explanation to say "my Grandfather was Spanish" when people looking at me and saying "which part? you doh look so!".

And when you have to fill out a form and put your "race" what boxes do you tick ? Maybe we should just have a box to tick that says "Trini" and people will understand that is a whole Callaloo race here, because everybody I know mix up somehow :DTrinidad Carnival Diaryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00740546075922616502noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33652795.post-1161939262404411952006-10-27T01:54:00.000-07:002006-10-27T01:54:00.000-07:00icahwait, de LAST thing I need in my life now is a...icahwait, de LAST thing I need in my life now is a next man.
