Hi Ho Silver!

This is what I feel like on mornings trying to catch the train in this country. Actually, that’s on a good morning, the mornings when I actually stand a chance of getting the train. Most times, the image should be me standing like a mooks on the station huffing and puffing after I scramble to catch the train and STILL miss it.

As all you commentators/bloggers out there who are living/have lived in another country know, there is no such thing as false pride or embarrassment when yuh in foreign. In Trinidad you not taking no bus even if dey pay yuh and yuh bussing style on maxi left, right and centre – IF you riding in maxi at all! In foreign, well, buss style nah. Yuh wait whole day. You eh bong to travel with them! Them getting pay whether you miss the train/bus or not you know! So pose off and reach late to work.

BUT, forever the optimist, I take this as a positive. This is now an invaluable part of my exercise regime. Joining in with the Cup O’ Coin weights, the Late for the Train sprint is proving to be quite an effective five minutes of cardio. Now, you may be saying that five minutes is no exercise at all, but I disagree.

Picture it. You’re dressed in heels – if not heels, works shoes; not sneakers, anyhow you take it. On the horizon you spy the train pulling up into the station and you know that if you miss that one you have a 20 minutes wait – if you’re lucky. Man, you hitching up handbag, skirt, everything and sprinting like four Doberman and three Rottweiler behind you and you was now cutting up chicken. Pace! Everything in a blur and yuh only praying yuh eh fall. But if yuh fall, it doh make no difference cause yuh eh even have time to look around to see who see yuh or pretend you trip on something other than your own big foot! People eh studying you!

When yuh finally sit down in the train all part ah yuh tembling. Yuh kyah speak!

So, while I cooking in the kitchen I lunging. While I listening to meh music and working, I doing some sit ups and arm curls. And in the morning I footsing it to catch meh Victoria train. Laugh at me, when yuh see this honey pot start to wine in POS come Carnival and all she leg, belly and arm tone allyuh go be wishing allyuh had a train to run down too…

Gyul, that just like running down maxi when I was going to school. Imagine like 200 people on the stand and Maxi coming one-one. It had like 7-8 maxi that used to go in town. After that your goose cook. So if yuh doh run, yuh stay home.
